Goodbye Aylesbury
Watching Chanel 4’s Demolition program I have just heard that one building the people hate is Buckinghamshire County Council’s Head Office in central Aylesbury. Obviously they are jumping on Hemel Hempstead’s bandwagon of blowing things up and hope to do a bit of regeneration, rather than destroy an industrial estate.
On that matter, I drove through Hemel today, and along the M1 from London. Some burk had stopped in the outside lane and caused a massive traffic jam, then there was a crash and everyone had to get out of the way for the emergency vehicles, causing more trouble. We also went through Maylands Industrial Estate. It looks no different from the chav-attacked way it normally looks. Oh, apart from a police barricade and some small yellow signs that said “Beware of unstable buildings”.
The council also have their work cut out, with one tenant asking for his small living room window to be replaced with large Frech patio doors! Perhaps he just phoned up to annoy Tony… We’ll never know.
