Who Needs One Of Those?
I am sure that most of you are aware by now that I have aquired a taste for the more random things in life. For example, I recently added to by collection of Clive’s Cats stuff. Unless you live in Cornwall or Devon you will probably never have heard of them, but I encourage you to make the journey down there and take a look. In saying that, I’ve only found 1 shop that stocks them, so you may still have some difficulty
Anyway, I have been looking at I Want One Of Those’s catalogue and I have been surprised by the number of completely random devices you can buy. Then I delved further into the Internet and discovered a cornucopia of weird devices and gadgets, and also more expensive or wacky versions of existing ones, such as diamond encrusted MP3 players.
This was all started by this device, spotted in the same shop selling the Clive’s Cats stuff:

I think they’re great things and really confusing to people. I especially like the addition of “SEILF EMIT” below the centre. In case you are wondering, it isn’t Latin, just read it backwards, as the nature of the clock suggests. Looking further into the world of obscure clocks I discovered such gems as a wooden LED clock, a binary clock and a dot clock. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a clock focussing around yaks, but I don’t think that is a vital world changing problem.
This, however, is. This is the i.Beat organix Gold MP3 player, costing around £13,000. It takes 100 hours of work by jewellers to craft it, and it contains 63 diamonds in the gold case.

Considering how much iPods get scratched at school, and stolen, I wouldn’t exactly feel safe wandering around with it, especially if I happened to go to a large city. The average person carries around a few grands worth of stuff with them each day, but I wouldn’t want to add to that with this MP3 player. Plus, if I put it on my desk it would scratch an intricate little pattern into it every time I put it down. Then again, if you can spend £13k on an MP3 player, you certainly wouldn’t mind buying a new desk every so often.
