Freedom Of Speech?

This is a more serious blog post, so if you came here looking for random facts or my lame attempts at comedy then I am afraid you will be disappointed this time. As everyone at Tring School seems to be aware, Freddie created a website complaining about the Library. Amazingly the staff managed to find it within two days, and Google has only just indexed it today. The reaction to his site has been mixed. Supposedly parents have been phoning to complain that they are gullible enough to think it is the real site, whereas some have requested a copy of it as they have a sense of humour. My maths class, inclduing the teacher, are also entirely in favour of it. And our teacher, being an ex-political activist (at Uni) has offered some tips to us on what to do and hopefully avoid getting the midget into any trouble. His site has also been a good way to waste 45 minutes of a maths lesson, which started just after our teacher claimed “Well, I don’t like to gossip, but…”.

What has concerned me however, is that a lot of people seem to be complaining about the school: students, teachers, the council, nearby residents. No notice is taken though. Someone wrote about the head of 6th form on their blog. Result? They had to publish a public apology. Various letters of complaint are sent to the school and nothing is done to act on the comments made. It seems that the management team as they like to call themselves do not like criticism, especially from the people employing them.

I also understand that by writing this I am probably taking my life into my hands, but that is a risk I am willing to take. I suppose I am also lucky that this has never been spotted by them. My blog does not appear that high in Google’s rankings, and hasn’t undergone a Googlebombing by Freddie.

And Mr Newman, you may or may not be happy to know that the entire school has been on a steady downhill slope ever since you departed.
