Digital Signs In Cars

OK, other people have used titles such as “Electrophoretic bumper sticker” [Engadget] but I thought that was overcomplicating things a bit. Basically, Volkswagen are developing a bumper sticker that can be digitally changed to display different images and text from within the car. The press photo from VW is a little optimistic, sporting the message “Have a good day” and the peace symbol:

VW Bumper Sticker

Now, I had this idea many years ago while stuck on the M4. I thought it would be a nice idea to chat to other drivers and display messages to people. Basically, I thought of the concepts of Bluetooth and this bumper sticker doing about 2mph in the general direction of the south west of the UK. I think I was 8 or 9 at the time. At that age, product development and design are not the first things on your mind, especially when you are heading away to see your grandparents.

I have also had other ideas that I have seen materialise years after I thought of them. At the moment I am wearing noise cancelling headphones (playing an obscure mix of Amateur Transplants, The Kooks, Pink Floyd and Weird Al Yankovic…). I had the basic ideas of how the electronics would work a few years ago, before they were on the market.

I am just wondering how many more of my ideas may appear in the modern world soon. And also, have any of you had a similar thing happen.
