Sorry For The Delay, Leaves On The Line

OK, I haven’t written anything for a few weeks here. My writing efforts have been focussed on the Tring Cycling Campaign and their new website recently, and all remaining efforts have been directed towards the two pieces of physics coursework and sociology essays that I have been given to complete all at the same time.

Did you also know, by the way, that leaves on the line cost the UK rail networks £50 million per year? You would have thought one of them leaf blowers in front of each train would have done the job, but obviously not.

Also, in my newspaper today (and presumably many others) was the story about how one family had produced £15 million in fake bank notes, the largest counterfeiting operation ever uncovered in the UK. In the story was the sentence “They mainly produced £20 notes, millions of which are still in circulation”. Now, if they produced £15 million, and millions of £20 notes made by them are still changing hands, somebody has a broken calculator. £15 million divided by £20 is only 750,000 notes, so someone, somewhere cannot do basic maths.

As for my list, here is a track listing for Weird Al’s latest album, Straight Outta Lynwood:

  1. White & Nerdy
  2. Pancreas
  3. Canadian Idiot
  4. I’ll Sue Ya
  5. Polkarama
  6. Virus Alert
  7. Confessions Part III
  8. Weasel Stomping Day
  9. Close But No Cigar
  10. Do I Creep You Out?
  11. Trapped In The Drive Through
  12. Don’t Download This Song

P.S. I was greeted when writing this post with the phrase Howdy, Rob! Perhaps that’s also why I haven’t written anything in a while
